Have you ever had that pesky problem, you made the camera focus on the object for it to refocus somewhere else? Well as you can see, i was trying to catch the bumble bee in the act, and of course it was faster than the camera and hey presto what a beautiful image of lavender flowers :)

So you know how in life a similar thing happens with you?! You focus your energy in one place, you take your eye off the ball for one second and it feels like the whole world shifted to a different focus? Doesn’t that kind of feel like what the camera does?

Do you remember that in one of the earlier blog entries I also mentioned keeping all the plates in the air like a juggler? It is a similar situation; you try keeping all the plates in the air, just for one on the other side of the stage to slow down it’s rotation, and presto your attention is off the game.

I am wondering how many of us in this strange world have lost our focus? How many of us have given up on something we have always tried to accomplish? How many of us have taken our eyes off the ball to that degree that all we are left with is chaos? Or perhaps with a nostalgic image of what could have been, but now you are too far away (or you think you are) to do anything about it? How many of you are hoping for better days before you do something about your dreams?

Remember in one of my earlier posts, I was talking about sowing the seed in the past for the plants to grow in the future? If you do not do anything about what it is you want to, it will never realise.

Many of us are familiar with the concept of faith or hope, having faith in something that it will materialise, or have hope that things improve?! Well, sowing the seed in autumn, in the hope that it will sprout in spring, so you can harvest in late summer, is all about faith. Faith that the seed was ripe, faith that the winter will provide the warmth for germination; hope that spring will provide a different kind of heat so it sprouts, faith that the levels of rain and sun will be balanced enough so that you can harvest in late summer.

As modern humans we have forgotten the way of the land, for we no longer have to plough and have to work with the season. As modern humans we expect many things to materials with little effort, especially as we were living in the fast lane in the past decade.  We had to be fast to keep up, because one eye off the proverbial ball and you were out.

Well, we have been given the opportunity to slow down, to create a new reality for ourselves. We have been given the option to become gardeners again; and this time gardeners of a new and different future. We have been given the opportunity to re-focus, to re-centre, to re-engage, to re-evaluate, to separate the wheat from the chaff. The choice is to either let the camera autofocus on whatever it feels like it, or take control of the camera, shift to manual focus and re-direct the lens.

Are you ready to focus?
