2011 appears to have been the year to observe nature. I photographed this butterfly on the same day as yesterday’s squirrel. I guess it was fascinating seeing this lovely and yet delicate creature fly from one set of flowers to the next.
Have you ever held a butterfly, or even got to look at it close up?
They seem so fragile, with their wings full of powder and their little bodies and antennas. But from afar, they are beautiful and graceful. Their entire life cycle is fascinating as they grow from pupae, to butterflies, going through a physical transformation from the very first cells to a flying creature. Have you seen the life cycle of a butterfly?
And if a creature so tiny can go through such a physical change in order to achieve its ultimate form, I wonder what makes humans so afraid of change and transformation?
So many creatures on this planet go from a few cells to full grown specimens through such transformation in order to achieve their most optimal selves, without complaining, without screaming and throwing tantrums.
The same thing happens for a plant, from seed to full grown plant it has to break through its shell, then find a way to the light and then fend for it’s own place in the world in order to seed again and the life cycle to start again.
I wonder what makes us humans so limited?!
What is it about our own selves that instead of embracing a transformation and become the best version of ourselves, we stagnate in the hope that life will improve?
Have you ever seen any other creature on this planet, sit down, give up, and say “no I am not ready to evolve”?
I do not think I have, apart from humans. Have you seen a lion cub telling its own parent “I don’t want to learn to survive”, “leave me alone”, “go away I know better”?
It probably is the other way around. When the parent knows that it’s offspring is fully educated and ready for a new tribe, it gets pushed out so that it creates its own group.
And yet, as human beings (the most intelligent of creatures on the planet, hmmm) we constantly fight against people who try to educate us, teach us, help us evolve.
Instead of striving for a more improved version of us, we go back time and time again to old habits, figuratively bite the hand that helps us and wallow in our own misery. Have you noticed that?
Mention the word change to a fellow human and watch them recoil as if burnt by the fire.
Aren’t we the most fragile creatures after all?
The butterfly knows what it will be. It knows that if it does not break through the cocoon, it will perish. It knows it’s purpose, knows it’s life cycle.
What about you, dear human? Have you broken through your cocoon?
Do you know your purpose, oh fragile one?
Are you aware, and are you ok with your own life cycle?
Who is the fragile one after all?
As always join in the conversation in a comment, or journal your thoughts. We are ready to evolve, join us on the journey of discovery.
Time to take out your diary and take some notes when answering the questions.
