2009 August Geneva Switzerland, I am taking you back in time to a summer’s afternoon during the August UK bank holiday. This image is indeed from lake Geneva as you look towards the shore, the huge jet of water  in the lake shoots water in the air to an impressive 140m.  This water feature can be seen really well from a variety of angles.  It is a symbol of the city, easily recognisable by people across the globe that the image is from Geneva.

And once again you may be wondering what makes you take you back into your memories, what makes me want you to go back in the past? AS we explored in a blog a few weeks ago often we find answers within from the past. It is in the past that we sow the seed for the future. I want you to take a dee dive into your memories and your histories to explore what makes you the human that you are today!

Just like this water jet is significant for the city of Geneva, so too are your memories, so too are your experiences.

Many of us do not recognise how much of who we are today comes from where we have been and what we have been through. We believe that everything that is happening today is to do with what has happened today. Our brain does not work like that. Our brains is a repository of all the experiences we have ever had. Our brain is a perfect recording device, what is not very good is retrieving the right information at the right time. Maybe it looses resolution in it’s details and not only that but our brain will alter memories, because it does not like to be in the wrong, not only that it does not like being in the wrong but is also not very good at admitting it, therefore our memories change, our memories get buried, so that we do not have to think of those moments that are emotionally charged that perhaps may show our weakest or more embarrassing side of us. And yet, those moments are important , as we may be engaging the world of today through the prism of our past experiences.

Have you ever created your own life time line? Have you ever tried to put into chronological order your own history? Have you ever tried to combine your family chronology? Do you know what makes you the person that you are today? Have you ever watched your life’s own movie? Do you have your own “feature” that can be recognised as yours by others? How many proud moments in your life can you find, where you achieved? Ho many events can you jot down where you have won at this thing called life?

Did you know we are all survivors? Did you know that we are all high achievers? Did you know we are goal achieving machines, you and I? You don’t think so? Well, consider how many things have you done so far today? Even if you read this blog in the morning…you opened your eyes, you got your brain to be alert enough to open your device, you engaged your eyes to see, and the rest as they say is history.

Can you indeed find in your memory bank, some events that makes you that special human that we know you are, that if you find that memory, you would be as memorable as the Jet D’Eau in Geneva?
