A young girl in a red jumper stands still on a pavement surrounded by pigeons, while two adults walk past her near a historic building with decorative windows.

2012 – a very different year for many people, for this little girl, she was enjoying the pidgeons eating their share of crumbs, for me this scene had to be adapted to have only the girl in red, it is the only way this image makes sense. This lonely soul standing out from the rest of the image.

Sometimes in our haste around the world, we forget that we also stand out from the crowd. We are so busy blending in and following the trends, that we fail to notice that with all that effort we actually push ourself more and more in the limelight. We of course think that we are you ravarage human, that our story is the same as the next persons, for it is way easier to consider that, then to carry the responsibility of being unique. In order to remain unique, you need to re-invent yourself every day, you have to find something that is so unimaginably new that you will be seen for who you are.Blending in takes much less time. Keeping you rhead down, means you will not be singled out, you will not be volunteered, you will not be shown up that perhaps you are lacking. And yet when we are outstanding, and we differ from the crowed is when we truly shine. Someone or something lifts us out of anonimity, and then our spirit roams free.

This picture would otherwise be just one of those other colour pictures, but the very fact that the other characters are balck and white, the red top shines like a beacon. The fatures of the main character show a story in itself, it shows the wonder, the absorbtion of what is unfolding before her.

When was your time to shine?

When were you the person wearing red?

When did you take the chance to be outstanding?
