A large, glowing orange sun setting against a dark, cloudy sky.

The setting of the Sun, a sure sign that another day has passed. I took this picture in 2007 in the South West of England, which is once again a sure mark that ime has indeed passed.

Today is one of those days that so many things can be done, by so many. At the time I am writing this is Sunday, so I guess an image of the Sun is appropriate.

If we are to believe some of the stories we are meant to rest on the day of the Sun, for the seventh day was when the Creator also rested after the creation of the world and all it’s domains. But then I wonder, how many of you just sat down and watched the world go by?

If you live in the Western world and you have a Monday to Friday, 9-5 job, this may well be a day when you do many of your house chores, or do your visits with family, or perhaps you did have the time to just sit and do nothing. Whether you spent the day productively (whatever that means to you) or not, the time has passed. The sun rose in the morning and set at night, and so the passage of time has been recorded from time immemorial. And of course, how we spent those inbetween hours is what counts, right? But what if the day never stops? It’s not like your brain shuts off completely and then restarts in the morning. So how productive are you during sleep? Isn’t that time wasted? Well, to some it is time wasted, therefore they sleep less, therefore they lead to burn out quicker than anyone who does sleep.

Regardless how much you do or how little you do, the time will pass, and you will judge yourself regardless how much yo uget done or not.

In the modern world we were taught we have to be productive, we literally have to produce something to show for, or we are worth nothing. Even if we have nothing to do, we have to pretend we are doing something. So regardless how ou look at it, with each passing day, you can either enjoy the moment, and reoice in that which you do, or choose to fret about how much you did not get done.

Will the sun rise again in the morning? Generally speaking yes. Will yo catch to see the sun being up? Well, that is all up to the universe, for you are not in charge there my friend. Your brain controls the show with it’s fab co-conspirator – the heart. If one or the other decides it’s game over, then it really is. So, what will you do in your day? How will you spend the passage of time? Will you enjoy the here and now?
