A large, bare tree with intricate branches casting long shadows over a rocky ground, under a clear blue sky.

I am taking us back to Avebury, UK.

Trees. They are the keepers of knowledge and history in our world. They are also the lungs of our world.

This tree was clearly seen by the locals as a symbol of unity across the ages, as it had various messages added to its branches, no doubt during the equinox, or perhaps during the full moon that just passed. Such trees across the globe are seen and have been considered the ancients, with their roots firmly rooted in the ground and its leaves reaching the sky.

In one of my posts last month, I asked you to try and create a map of your links within your world and see how you are tied to the people around you.

I also asked you to create a timeline of your life so you can observe how you came to be the human that you are.

Today it would be interesting if you could try and create your family tree.

I wonder how many generations can you go back in time?

I wonder how thick are your roots on this planet?

Do they just stay local to where you live or do they span across vast distances?

How deeply rooted are you?

Do you recognise how those roots are present in your DNA?

Have you considered how some of what you do may well be influenced by a very distant ancestor that you know nothing about?

Do you think that the human that you are today, it just about your mum or dad? Or do you think that your being stretches back millennia?

Most people never consider their own heritage or history and they are wondering why things happen the way they are.

If you are a parent yourself, you can only fall back on how you were parented (of course with a few tweaks), and your parents can’t but parent the way they were parented, and your grandparents the way they did, and so on, back to your first branch in the tree.

Have you ever wondered if the traditions in your family are things that developed through your parents, or do they date back to further times?

Traditions become traditions over time, beliefs become beliefs over time. The way we do things become the way we do things over time.

And just like trees, we have a rich history dating back to ancient times, but those stories are no longer being told to us.

I guess that most of us no longer know our own history.

What messages do you have hanging from your own tree?
