The Prince of Wales bridge over the Severn, looks as if it was taken out from a futuristic film. I took this picture with my long lens, the distance between me and the bridge was about 12 miles, so no wonder that the final image dissipated in the distance.

This bridge is fascinating to see from a distance, and no doubt a much more impressive building from up close. Sadly, I have not had the opportunity to see it close up, so my imagination needs to keep on working.

I guess, as we are closing the gap towards the end of the year, more and more I am inclined to try and create a link across to the new year. And like with all the links to a potential future, we need to break with the old. We need to try and close the chapters down, so that any new opportunity can rise up from the ashes.

Just like for most of you, this year had it’s ups and it had it’s downs and everything in between. There were changes and there were stagnations, and yet I must say, not one day repeated itself.

Each day I had the chance to explore something new, explore a different aspect of the self, a different perspective on the world.

The days may have started the same, but with each passing day, the scenery was different, the experiences were different.

For me, this year meant keeping to my true self as best as possible, trying to maintain my authenticity, and if I made a promise to myself, it was all about keeping that promise.

There were things I had to finish off this year as an extension of last year, there were things that took years to come to light and take shape and form, and yet this year they just manifester.

The waters of my river were troubled, were uncertain, were new and the potential for overflow was very high, the potential for failure was immense, the potential for giving up was exponential. And yet I have to say, this year, just like last year, was a triumph for me. I have again done some things I have not done before; I have learnt skills I have not known before, I have grown plants I have never done before. All the while, I have kept dreams and hopes alive, I kept people and plants alive and helped the world around me thrive.

What are your accomplishments for the year?

If you were to list all the things you have achieved, what would they be?

What have you learned new about the world?

What have you learned new about your environment?

What could you be grateful for?
