If “smellyvision” were a thing, this image would smell like freshly cut grapes. This in fact is the harvest in 2012 when these gapes were well under way to becoming wine.

In nature nothing gets wasted, everything is transformed or goes through a metamorphosis. The sugars from the juice will start to ferment with the yeast from the air to eventually transform all this into alcohol and ultimately into wine. And for those who have only bought the stuff in bottles, this is where your favourite drink comes from.
But once again, what does this image have to do with the self you ask?! Well consider this: are you the same person you were yesterday? Or are you a different person altogether?

I think we have already spoke about this in one of the entries. And I guess I bring it up because today as I was speaking to someone about what I do in my job I mentioned how sometimes I have the impression that I do nothing through my interventions. The person I was speaking to then pointed out that although some of my interventions may be short in terms of time, the impact can be greater than imagined and perhaps will mature in time. I guess to some degree my work is like the grape that is on the vine. Until the time comes the impact will not be seen, just like with the grape juice, it takes the right time and conditions to turn into wine, in a similar way the discussions I have with my clients may not mature and turn into a meaningful piece of work until time passes and the right conditions come along for the maturation.

What did you take part in and then the impact was not felt for some time?

Have you learnt anything at some point, felt it was useless, just to realise later on that in fact all was worth it?

What did take time for you to mature?
