Today we take a peek into the aquarium in Monaco, this lovely little creature captured my eye in 2008 and today will attempt to be the conversation starter for the blog entry.
The first title that came to mind was “keep your head up”, for the obvious reason that the fish was holding it’s head up. But then another title popped into my head, “observing the world”.
Today I was in a contemplative mood the whole day, perhaps I have not woken up properly from my dreams this morning, perhaps it was just one of those Monday feelings. Either way, observing the world was in a way something I have done today. It did not feel like a real day, it felt like I was a passenger.
How was your day? Were you an active participant in the world?
To some degree I had to be a participant, due to seeing clients and talking to client’s family members, but in some other respects today felt like an extension of the weekend.
How to you interact in the world on those days when you are a mere passenger? What is your mind thinking? What is you body feeling? Does the whole experience feel real to you? And if it does not feel real, are you able to be present still and engaged?
Sometimes I take on the role of the observer I guess, just so that I take a break from the thinking and analysing, and turn to the mundane dulling of the picture before me. It is not a form of escaping reality as it is for some, it is just so I can allow the senses and the mind to relax. For me the day dreaming is not a way to escape my reality, it is but a way of experiencing it in a different way.
When you take a break from reality, is it to escape or is it to tune in more? Are you dulling the external senses to sharpen the internal ones? Are you staying a passenger just for a short time, or is being a passenger a long term affair?
Observing the world like the fish in a water tank from inside out, allows for a different point of view, things either become clearer or murkier, sharper or duller, it is a matter of perspective.
Time to take out your diary and take some notes when answering the questions.
