The sea and the walkway a parallel world between the natural and the man made, a juxtaposition of ideas in the vastness of the Earth. This image adds to the feeling of eternity due to the lack of humans in it. I took this picture from the train as we were probably coming back from Cascais to Lisbon. It was a matter of seconds, before the scenery was overwhelmed by buildings and this beauty was lost through the memories.
Today I was trying to find new energy and inspiration to continue with the entries, especially as I am sitting here trying to write and my human is playing their game console at my side. We are parallel playing, each doing what they like doing, each engaging in their own world. I am considering how I can enhance my own existence whilst engaging you in a debate about the inner world, my significant otter is exploring alien worlds in their game. Parallel play can sometimes work in people’s favour as not one person will fully commit to the play of others; therefore, a compromise is needed to be able to coexist, whilst engaging in their own interests.
When I was looking at the image, it made me consider how the lack of humans, s what give the image character. And as I was contemplating the idea of using it, I was wondering in my head, if I have used it before, in an earlier entry. I guess my mind has seen it before, made a mental note, and concluded that is significant enough to keep it in mind. Does that not sound familiar to you as a concept? We see something, clearly has an impression and then the brain is saying to us later on “this has happened, we tried this before, we have seen this before”. It is as if the brain has created this parallel world where the event played itself out, it has completed the cycle, it has lived out the ending – and we are just observers of the end product.
Parallel stories are something that all of you are familiar with. Like that time when someone was telling you the event, and you had a completely different experience of it. Or that moment when you did that thing and someone else saw something different. Or when that teacher or that colleagues was talking to you and you were just there in body but not in spirit, almost watching our self as the scene unfolded but you were somewhere else entirely.
How often do you parallel play?
How often do you walk along someone in life never the two shall meet in mind, body or experience, despite sharing a living space, a seemingly together life?
How often do you participate where you are not present in mind or spirit but the body goes along to things?
How often do you appear to be parallel to yourself in thought, but not in spirit?
Do you feel like the body lives one life, and your mind maybe another, just for your soul to feel is living a 3rd life?
If all these three aspects of you live a parallel life, which life is the real one?
Which life is worth living?
Which life is yours?
Time to take out your diary and take some notes when answering the questions.
