Today I had to share an image of a red tablecloth. The most dreaded item in a washing machine, the proverbial red thing that turns everything pink. Yup, the transference was real today when, despite the colour catchers in the wash, most white items are no more. In isolation, red is seen is the colour of passion, of love, or of anger; among white items is a hazard and a menace.
The random red thing in the wash is like those vibes that you pick up without your knowledge or conscious awareness of your surroundings. You walk about your business in the world and by the time you realise what has happened; you have taken on someone else’s state of being. You set off from home as pristine child, just to be told you are doing things wrong in kindergarten/ nursery or school. You are taught a set of rules at home just to be shown by the world that keeping to them you do not get accepted.
Transference can occur in a physical sense when you end up with a stain on your shirt, or with habits or behaviours that were never your own, but you picked them up to fit in or get the right job.
Have you ever sat down and observed what are your moral standards?
What do you accept as truths?
Have you ever considered what is yours, what is that you picked up, what is perceived? Have you considered who influenced your world?
Have you decided early on who you are, or are you still a work in practice?
Have you accepted what your limits are, or are you limiting yourself on purpose?
How much of your family’s history are you repeating?
What has transferred on to you from others, and what are you transferring on to others yourself?
What is it that you share consciously with the world, and what do you share unconsciously?
What connections to you have, do you maintain, or let go of?
Is your world a speck of colour lost in a dull, colourless world? Or is your world colourful, dotted about with specks of grey?
Time to take out your diary and take some notes when answering the questions.
