I do not know when you last went to a church, or any place of worship where Iconography is present. I love these beautiful windows in churches as they create a special kind of light in the buildings. Of course each window has it’s own story, usually in Christian churches related to scenes in the bible, no doubt this was the Madonna and the child.
Throughout history iconography was used to promote stories to pass on wisdom or to create a representation of the belief made manifest.
In the modern world, through social media and through the cult of celebrities, many humans are elevated to the role of “icons”, in the hope that if we emulate these icons our world will be richer, will be more abundant.
Who are your icons?
Who do you want to imitate in your life?
What made you elevate this other mortal human being to the level of an icon?
What is it about this person that you wish you had? For if we can recognise characteristics in a person or a situation, know that you already possess those qualities. The brain has to have a representation of something in order to be able to recognise it.
So I ask you again, who are your icons? Who or what is it that you wish you had for yourself, but you never dared acknowledge you have it?
Are you able to create that which you desire? Or do you limit yourself further, thought the thoughts and feelings you have always had?
Are you willing to leave unhelpful patterns behind? Are you ready to call yourself an icon?!
As always join in the conversation in a comment, or journal your thoughts. We are ready to evolve, join us on the journey of discovery.
