Look away

When we are asked to look at our present or our fast facing the dark moments can be a challenge and many people look away. When the truth is revealed or when we decide to reveal the truth of US for the first time, many look away, unable to face that which in fact is their reality.

Of course sometimes we are being told by certain people around us that what we do is not according to the moral code, and through the ages as humans we have been imposing more and more moral codes on others curtailing the freedoms of some whilst promoting the voice of others. But when I look around the world as a human race we have still not been able to face our own truth that we still find it impossible to be fair to everyone around. If we look in history how many times humans turned against humans and to this day we are persecuting individuals. And not only certain people take on the persecuting role, but they then promote it to the masses, we still have not yet reached that point when we can be neutral and acceptant of difference. As a humans species we can still not accept the other person for who they are with no judgement and from a place of neutrality. We still do not have the patience for another, and when we see the injustice in the world, many turn and look away, for it is not happening to them.

Today when I was shopping in a local grocery store a shop keeper was trying to tell the customer 3 times how much they needed to pay and the customer ignored him, because the customer was on the phone. So then in an angry voice the customer asked the shop keeper again for the amount he needed to pay. The shop keeper repeated the sum, at which point the customer push come of the money on the counter, again the inaccurate sum, making the shop keeper having to repeat himself. The customer was clearly not getting things right because he was distracted by the phone call and yet he was the one getting angry. This got followed by a natural exchange between myself, shop keeper and another customer where were I highlighted that perhaps the person on the phone was dealing with something super important therefore they may have been distracted, which led to the other two people to give the previous customer the benefit of the doubt. And as I left I wished the shop keeper to continue smiling, of course, if he could, being nice takes less energy.

Being the point of neutrality or providing a perspective to the other can also be a cause for the other to turn away and look away, for it may mean that their view of the world is challenged, and let’s face it, when was your brain ok with being in the wrong? When was your ego ok with accepting being in the wrong? When did your ego feel like it could let go and not go into defensive mode? How often do you look away yourself unable to face the truth? What makes you turn away and not look? Can you face your own self? Can you look yourself in the eye and accept all that is YOU?
