Porto, Portugal 2012 – if you have ever visited Portugal you would have inevitably come across one of these churches, with its azuljus on the outside. It is a striking image, the blue of the tiles with the orange of the building. For me it wasn’t so much the architecture that stands out, but the presece of the humans on it’s steps. These individuals are clearly not waiting for redemption or the saving from God, they are just using the steps as a place to congregate, to sit, to converse, to exist. The very nature of the steps allowd for the weary traveler to take a break and contemplate his or her next moves. Of course the people you see before you are locals, and therefore they are probably using the church as a meeting point, and yet to me these people are not just waiting for friends, but are also waiting for something new to take place in their lives. They are waiting with hope, that the rest of the day will bring some exitement into their world.
When I look at this image, a different image emerges as well, perhaps an image from hundreds of years ago, when perhaps a different type of person would have gone up those steps. That person would have gone up those steps waiting for a different kind of hope. That person would have gone up those steps perhaps with a hungry stomach, or a cold back in the hope that he or she will get relief from the daily difficulties. Perhaps that person would have been accepted with open arms, perhaps they would be turned away, being told that they had to try harder to survive – I would like to think that they received the former, but it is most likely that they received the latter treatment.
And of course we are talking about the modern world of today, they such places are not longer providing the connection that they were built for, because as a race we have moved on, we have for most part disconnected completely from source. Yeah, yeah, I hear some of you in the backrow grumpling that I am over generalising, but really, how many of those with a claim, they truly 100% believe that, that which they read or say actually connects them with source? I have to wonder about this connection, for if they were indeed connected, many of the difficulties that can be easily fixed globally, would have been fixed no questions asked. I have to wonder if that connection exists, because then greed, glutony, theft, murder, cheating, coveting, etc – would not be featured on our screens anymore. I have to wonder about the connection, for if it was truly there, then healing, love, support, selflesssness, charity, warmth would be promoted more, would be present more. I would be able to see more smiles, more relaxed faces, more sunshine in the demeanour of humans.
And of course when survival is still our primary setting, then none of the higher states can be achieved, beause we continue to just focus on our most primal instincts.
We have spoken about this many times in the past year, how importnt it is to shift focus from survival to gratitude, from fear to bliss, from not enough to plenty. And of course, the purpose of my daily entries was about encouraging YOU , my dear reader to try and shift that inner perception, that inner expereince.
How much have you been able to shift?
Have you been able to find the bliss?
Have you found at least 5 things to be grateful for today?
Have you managed to grow beyond survival?
Have you been able to recognise that amid all the chaos, there is peace, there is quiet, there is enough?
Of course if you read this, you do have access to abundance, you have access to recources, you have access to tools, and of course, it is all about how you use those resources, those tools is how abundant your life is.
End the waiting, take action, change your experience, it is within your reach. Get up off the steps, walk though the doors, or away, whichever works for your highest good, just take action.
Time to take out your diary and take some notes when answering the questions.
