A decorative bonsai tree with a lush green canopy, rooted in a textured base, set against a backdrop of grey stones and a glass window.

When we visited Kew Gardens in London, we came across some bonsai trees, some were you r traditional trees you would expect as bonsai, and some were just miniatures of actual forest trees. These specimens were fully grown trees but due to the small pots they were kept in, they never grew to their natural sizes. The description of the tree said, that should it be planted in the ground, it would grow out to be it’s natural height.

Today when I saw the image, it reminded me, how sometimes as human beings we go through a similar experience. If we stay within the boundaries of the familiar, we too remain stunted and fail to develop. And when we are allowed to move on, either by circumstances or we set ourselves free, we grow to the full heights of where we are meant to be.

What is stunting your growth?

Are you in a too small a pot for your own well being?

Are you keeping yourself artificially small?

Is someone cutting off your branches deliberately, and stopping you from growing?

How restricted are you?
