I

A wall covered in graffiti, featuring a prominent poster of a young boy wearing a cap and a T-shirt with the text 'GANSTA RAP MADE ME DO IT'. Flanking the boy are two striking stencil-style images of a woman with a crown. A pink sign reading 'SMILE MORE' is displayed in the centre.

Today we are going back to the streets and use once again the wisdom of the street artist to drive the message home.

This image is actually a mixture of artists displaying their thoughts using spray paint and perhaps stencils. If I remember correctly this is from London, near the National Theatre, where skaters and artists alike mingle. Of course this artwork is long gone, as the “open canvas” is used and re-used many times.

Today it felts like I needed to highlight the importance of a smile. Why am I focusing on that part of the art, and not the blue sign or eve the t-shirt from the image? Well, as human beings we need to smile more, we need to be able to enjoy the moment and be present. Smile at the little things you see, perhaps the sun as it sifts through the curtains, perhaps at the little dog as it is bouncing around his human friend, perhaps just smiling at seeing your own reflection in the mirror.

Each day is indeed a miracle of existence, each day when you open your eyes there is an opportunity to reset the world and start anew. Each day we are given the opportunity to try something new, experience something different, and feel that we belong.

As you go about your day, I invite you to purposefully smile, it does not matter what it is about, just smile!
