This is an image I took in 2003 somewhere in the South of England. The face of the rock has clear traces of where the water has run down it’s side. Perhaps the rock was relatively soft, as the grooves seem really deep. What fascinated me about this rock face was not only the grooves but also the colouring of the rock. I loved the orange tint to it.
When I think of a human being with years already lived on this planet I can not but compare us to this rock face. Just like in the image the experiences we have leave marks on our psyche or our soul. The groves that experiences etch on us are not visible to anyone but us. On the outside we may well be smiling, airbrushing out the wrinkles, and yet perhaps on the inside there may be an entire canyon spanning for miles.
How deep are the ravines of your soul? Have you built any bridge across those ravines? Perhaps there are lakes of un-cried tears? Or perhaps the Niagra falls with it’s wide spanning river bank is dividing your inner world? How do you create a bridge over those experiences? What have you done to close the gap within? Who has been helping reconnect and restore the balance?
But perhaps none of this is your reality, so then the only thing left for you to do is to admire the image, pour yourself something to drink, and relax.
