An elderly person interacting with a German Shepherd dog in a yard, offering a treat to the dog. A wooden doghouse is visible in the background.

A German Shepard and a human, a predator by any name, a feared creature by most and trusted by others (who is who, you decide). A human and a dog of almost equal size, and yet one respects the other enough to allow for hand feeding. One is gentle the other trusting, there is a tacit understanding that despite the sharp teeth, he will not bite the hand that feeds him. And the human agreeing that whenever there is food, he will share it, and together they will enjoy the world around.

Today is the first day of the calendar year, and just like the dog and the human in our image, I suspect you are either the human or the four-legged friend, depending on how you experience the world. You could perhaps consider that the world is a scary place, and therefore you are barring your sharp teeth at everyone, and you may be biting the hand that feeds you, or perhaps you are seeing the world for what it is, and you trust that the world will respond back to you in kind. However you started today, I hope that there is trust within you that an equilibrium will be reached this year. I hope that you have made an agreement within you, that perhaps this year will be different. I hope that you have decided that a new you is indeed what is needed, and that you are willing to accept that tacit understanding, that in order for new to enter your world, you need to trust that what will be new will be in agreement with you.

Today I will not pose you any challenge, I will not ask you to consider anything. Today I will ask you to reflect. I ask you to observe the image and have a think how you could achieve this level of trust within you, and outside of you with the world.
