Faery tale

Bibury in Gloucestershire, this row of houses is one of the most photographed rows in the UK, and has made it into at least one blockbuster movie. And yes, it was a faery tale. Interestingly, the film was all about magic, and love, and more magic, and happy ever after – a classic tale of light versus dark.

And doesn’t our life feel like a faery tale sometimes?

What faery tales did you grow up with?

What stories were you told with a moral ending that perhaps you use today as a platform for your thoughts, your way of being?

How many of you are you waiting for your prince to come?

How many of you are dreaming of rescuing the damsel in distress?

How many of you are still slaying the dragon?

How many of you are riding in on the strong white horse to save the day?

Any sleeping beauties out there, waiting to kiss their last frog in the hopes of the prince to sweep you off your feet?

How many of you are thieves hoping for the genie in the lamp?

But maybe you are hoping for those big muscles who defeated Hera. Or perhaps you hope the next apple you eat is not offered to you by a super old woman. And let’s not forget that mirror that keeps on telling you one story one day, and a different story the next, and yet you are not the fairest of them all. But maybe you are that guy pushing the stone up the hill, just to see it roll down the hill, just to have to roll it back up. And maybe you are the unfortunate one to find that someone has slept in your bed. You never know. And of course, how many of us used a crumb trail to find our way back home in order to escape that gingerbread house?

Funny how life turns out, right?!
