Today I am taking everyone on the journey of a meditation. In august I joined a world meditation where we used the power of the year to move forward.
For many people the idea of meditation is a foreign concept, not because they do not know what it is, it’s because they think it is difficult to do or that is only hippies that are into that kind of stuff. Of course in the modern world more and more is being spoken of meditation as a practice to help get in touch with your inner world.
A meditative state can be achieved at any point in your day really, when you are waking down the street and you are watching or counting your steps. You could be meditating when you are listening to music and you are allowing the mind to just be. You can meditate even when you are taking a breath. It is really a time where you allow the mind you relax but at the same time get it to focus the mind.
Through a meditative state you can indeed light the way to a greater understanding of the self. Some people have a hard time getting the mind not to wonder not to have ideas randomly popping up. As modern humans we busy our mind with things every moment of every day, as if we are afraid of being with ourselves. We are so used to scrolling and gathering data all the time, that having 5 minutes to just yourself without distraction feels foreign , feel uncomfortable, feel uneasy. And what makes this state of trans so uneasy I wonder?
In all fairness our mind never stops, from the moment it becomes more than just a spec of cells, the moment the first neuron comes online in our mother’s womb, the brain never switches off. We have a perfect recording device, a squishy device that retains and uses information after information, it absorbs data after data, for what purpose? Do you use all the data you have ever storage? Do you remember all the data you have ever learnt? Do you remember every thought you have ever had? Do you feel in charge of every system in your body? What drives all the experiences that you have? And despite so much strain being put on our brain every minute of every day, the thought of doing nothing for 5 minutes, the thought of sitting still scares the bejesus out of many people.
When did you just light a candle and just spent some time staring into the flame (obviously at a safe distance from said flame, and said candle on a surface that is flat, non flammable, and away from any items that may catch fire). But yeah, when did you spend time just staring into that flame and allowed your mind to take a break? When did you disconnect from the surrounding data stream to just allow your mind to chill?
As always join in the conversation in a comment, or journal your thoughts. We are ready to evolve, join us on the journey of discovery.
